Ontario is the most popular province for postsecondary education in Canada and it’s not hard to see why. Over 800,000 students are enrolled at Ontario colleges and universities, many of whom are from different countries. One of the most common questions we get is which universities in Ontario are available through the ApplyBoard Platform.

Algoma University
Algoma University’s main campus is located in Sault Ste. Marie, in the heart of the Great Lakes. As an undergraduate-only institution, Algoma is one of Ontario’s smallest universities. However, Algoma’s smaller size has allowed it to focus on increased interaction between students and faculty.
Popular programs include Business Administration and Environmental Science. ApplyBoard is partnered with Algoma’s Sault Ste. Marie and Brampton campuses.

Brescia University College
Brescia is a unique school, in that it’s Canada’s only all-women university. An affiliate of nearby Western University, Brescia enjoys all the resources offered by Ontario’s third-largest university but with a 14:1 student/faculty ratio for increased interaction and discussion. Although Brescia is a Catholic institution, it welcomes students of all faiths and backgrounds. In fact, over 11% of its student population are international students!
ApplyBoard has partnered with Brescia for an exclusive offer. All female international students accepted to the Management and Organizational Studies program will receive an $11,400 bursary as part of their admission offer.

Brock University
Brock University is located in St. Catharines, Ontario, and is the only Canadian university in a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve. The university had approximately 19,000 students in 2018 and boasts one of Canada’s most successful co-op programs.
Brock enjoys a 98 per cent work-term placement rate and more than 95 per cent of co-op grads find work with a previous employer. Brock is also the only university in Canada to offer an undergraduate degree in Public Health.

King’s University College
Like Brescia, King’s University College is an affiliated school of Western University. Located in London, Ontario, King’s offers students “The Best of Both Worlds” – small classes led by outstanding faculty.
Students can choose from degree programs in the arts, social sciences, management and social work. Every student who attends King’s University College has access to all of Western’s facilities and services, and also graduate with a Western degree.

Lakehead University
Lakehead University is located in Thunder Bay, Ontario, and is regarded as one of Canada’s top research universities. It also routinely ranks in the top 10 for education among Canadian universities. Lakehead offers students a picturesque setting that doesn’t sacrifice access to top programs.
The university’s Faculty of Law and School of Medicine are highly respected, and it has the only internationally accredited (AACSB) business school in northern Ontario. If Thunder Bay is too far, students can also choose Lakehead’s Orillia campus, which boasts Canada’s first Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) compliant academic building.

Laurentian University
Home of the Northern Ontario School of Medicine’s east campus, Laurentian University is a midsize institution located in Sudbury, Ontario. Laurentian specializes in niche programs inspired by its northern location, including stressed watershed systems, mining, engineering, and environmental remediation.
As a bilingual university, Laurentian is a great place for international students to nurture their language skills, as more than 40 programs are offered in both English and French.

Ontario Tech University
Founded in 2002, Ontario Tech University is one of the newest universities in Ontario. Ontario Tech has two campuses in the city of Oshawa and was founded on the idea of being a “Technology-Enriched Learning Environment”. Students receive the necessary software and support to help prepare them for technology-focused careers.
Ontario Tech has more than 70 specialized research laboratories and facilities. These include the Automotive Centre of Excellence, which has one of the world’s largest climatic wind tunnels.

Queen’s University
Queen’s University is located in the port city of Kingston, and is home to over 25,000 students, faculty, researchers, and artists. International students access world-class learning experiences and a lots of opportunities for research. Renison University College
Renison is an affiliated university college of the University of Waterloo. It’s also located in Waterloo, Ontario, and focuses on English as a Second Language (ESL) instruction. Students who attend Renison will find a committed faculty, small classes, and a strong sense of community.

Trent University
Located near the Otonabee River in Peterborough, Trent is one of the most beautiful universities in Ontario. It’s also a university that prides itself on offering quality education and small class sizes.

University of Guelph
The University of Guelph ranks high among international students for its research excellence and program diversity. Guelph specializes in the physical and biological sciences, arts, business, and social sciences.
Guelph is also well-known for its agricultural programs and research. One of its most well-known is an ongoing program looking for sustainable ways to feed the world. Speaking of food, Guelph has the best campus food in Canada according to a recent student survey.

University of Waterloo
The University of Waterloo (UW) is one of Canada’s top research universities. At UW, you’ll find world-class facilities in science, engineering, and many other disciplines. It’s also well-known for its extensive co-op program (ranked #1 in Canada in 2022 by Maclean’s magazine) which spans faculties and gives students great work-integrated learning experience.
UW ranks in the top 10 for Canadian universities and is recognized internationally for its education quality. In fact, 22% of its undergrads and 40% of graduate students in 2019 were international students.

University of Windsor
The University of Windsor is located in Canada’s southernmost city, across the Canadian-American border from the city of Detroit. Thanks to its proximity to the United States, the University of Windsor offers unique programs in partnership with American schools.
Over 16,000 students from 100 countries are enrolled in Windsor’s professional schools, which include Law, Business, Engineering, and Nursing.

Western University
A large public research university located in London, Ontario, Western University is a respected member of Canada’s U15 group. With more than 400 academic programs, Western is known for its education quality and attracts many international students every year.

Wilfrid Laurier University
Located in Waterloo, Wilfrid Laurier University (WLU) is one of Canada’s highest-rated schools for overall student satisfaction.
WLU is a mid-sized university known for business and music programs, but its Arts, Science, Education, and Graduate Studies programs are also well-respected. Laurier’s other major campus is located in Brantford, Ontario.

York University – School of Continuing Studies
York University’s School of Continuing Studies specializes in postgraduate programs. The school offers always evolving post-graduate certificates in areas including Accounting Business Administration, and Public Relations.
It’s also home to the York University English Language Institute. York’s ELI is one of the largest language training centres in Canada! Their programs are designed to help students improve their English language skills, while allowing them to apply for York University’s undergrad programs without taking the IELTS exam.

Yorkville University – Toronto
Yorkville University hosts a large number of international students. Plus, it has small class sizes, meaning increased interaction with instructors. With a campus in central Toronto, students live and study in one of Canada’s largest student neighbourhoods.
In addition to its Business Administration and Interior Design degrees, Yorkville has an English Language Pathway Program for students who don’t meet the minimum required IELTS scores.
