A crucial step in any student’s study abroad journey is applying for a student visa. To assist students and ApplyBoard recruitment partners, ApplyBoard first launched the Canadian Visa Calculator for select users in December of 2021. The Calculator is located within the ApplyBoard Platform, and is designed to reveal which institutions and programs will provide students with the best chance of study permit success. This can help take the guesswork out of students’ Canadian visa applications.
The great news is: the Canadian Visa Calculator is now available to ApplyBoard recruitment partners everywhere!
How It Works
This powerful tool uses machine learning practices and historical data to determine how likely a student is to receive Canadian study permit approval.
The Calculator takes seconds to use:
- Answer a few demographic questions.
- Provide the student’s desired level of study and destination (optional).
- Get instant results.
The Canadian Visa Calculator provides invaluable, data-driven insight you can’t get elsewhere!

How It Benefits Students
The Visa Calculator results show which destination provinces and levels of study will most likely result in Canadian study permit approval. ApplyBoard’s recruitment partners can use this to optimize a student’s chance of success.
The Canadian Visa Calculator can help our recruitment partners:
- Build trust and confidence with new student leads.
- Take the guesswork out of student visa applications.
- Allocate the right resources to students based on their needs.
For example, the Visa Calculator can determine if a student’s Canadian study permit is more likely to be approved if pursuing study in Nova Scotia versus Ontario. This knowledge helps recruitment partners working with ApplyBoard to guide their students in the direction most likely to lead to approval, and help make their study abroad dreams come to life.
An Important Note About the Canadian Visa Calculator
ApplyBoard’s Canadian Visa Calculator is not a substitute for official immigration or visa advice. The results of the Visa Calculator simply measure the likelihood of a student’s visa acceptance based on historical trends. Please note that each student’s actual visa approval chances also depend on external factors that are not considered in the Visa Calculator tool.

Results may vary. The Canadian Visa Calculator module uses machine learning and historical data from Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) to predict the percentage of applicants with certain characteristics that would qualify for a Canadian study permit.
The module combines the approval rates of groups of applicants who share subsets of features (like age and country of citizenship) to infer the approval chance of individuals with the whole set of features. These predictions also assume the candidate is eligible for the level of study they are applying for, and able to receive a letter of acceptance from a Canadian designated learning institution. The information on the ApplyBoard website is not intended to be immigration advice, and third-party professional advice should be obtained in respect to any visa application that may be pursued.
