Opportunity

Find Big Opportunities

in Small Cities

Canada’s biggest cities, including Vancouver, Montreal, and Toronto, offer exceptional education and career opportunities for ambitious students. However, Canada has so much more to offer beyond the big city experience.

Canada has countless smaller, growing communities that fall outside of major population zones—and these up-and-coming regions need talented international student graduates to support their local economies! Take advantage of a more personalized study experience with smaller class sizes at any number of incredible universities and colleges across the country, then stay and work in in-demand fields to kickstart your career.

Experience

Work While Studying and After Graduating

For most international students, a great education abroad is a stepping stone to an exciting lifelong career. Canada makes that easy, with generous work-while-studying rules to help you fund your studies and build connections. Many study programs also offer co-op and internship elements, helping you get crucial early experience working in your specific field.

Then, when your studies finish, Canada’s famous Post-Graduation Work Permit (PGWP) can enable you to stay in the country and work in your field for up to three years, depending on the length of your study program! You can qualify if you graduate from eligible programs as short as eight months long. Participants can even work anywhere in Canada, and may change employers at any time.

Life

Life Enjoy a High Quality of Life

In 2023, U.S. News and World Report ranked Canada fourth in the world for its quality of education. But those rankings don’t just reflect the country’s many exceptional campuses, program offerings, and teaching staff. Much of the reason Canada ranks so highly is also due to its excellent quality of life, from healthcare and mental wellness to sense of belonging and life satisfaction.

In addition, Canada’s well-funded, public education system creates a high-quality learning environment. By studying and living in Canada, students become global citizens by learning empathy and cross-cultural awareness, as well as building important practical skills that lead to successful, fulfilling careers.

Community

Join a Safe and Welcoming Community

Canada is famous for its natural beauty, multicultural cities, and friendly people! There’s something for everyone in the world’s second largest country.

Choose to explore:

  • Beautiful British Columbia on the west coast
  • The breathtaking Canadian Rockies
  • Growing communities in the Prairies and the North
  • Culture and opportunity in Quebec or Ontario
  • Laid-back lifestyles in the Maritime provinces

Across Canada, no matter where you end up, you’ll find safe and vibrant communities full of caring, welcoming people which celebrate diversity.

Student Visa

Getting a Canadian
Student Visa

To study in Canada, you’ll need to apply for your study permit, often called a student visa.

You can only apply for your study permit after you’ve been accepted by a Designated Learning Institution (your chosen college or university), received your offer of admission, and paid your tuition deposit. Once your study permit is approved, you’ll automatically get electronic travel authorization (or eTA), meaning you can enter Canada.

When your studies finish, you’ll need a Post-Graduation Work Permit (PGWP) if you want to stay and work in Canada. Your partner and dependants may also be able to stay in the country with you, but that depends on many factors.

In the long term, you may be able to become a permanent resident, but it’s never guaranteed. Canada is a very popular destination for studying, working, and living.
