Satisfaction

Germany is Beloved by Its
Students

According to a recent student survey conducted by the CHE Centre for Higher Education, students in Germany are generally very satisfied with their overall study situation. The vast majority of undergraduate students surveyed rated their experience at four or five stars out of five, and only a tiny fraction—around 5%—gave a one or two star rating. Most students were very happy with their studies!

So, if you’re committed to your education and want to love your study abroad experience, you can’t do much better in that regard than Germany. Follow in the footsteps of the ~400,000 other international students there, and it’s easy to see why more and more international students are looking to Germany for study abroad!

Experience

Work While Studying and After Graduation

For most international students, a great education abroad is a stepping stone to an exciting lifelong career. Germany offers generous work-while-studying rules to help you fund your studies and build connections. Usually, international students can work up to 20 hours each week while studying. That being said, most part-time jobs will require you to speak German, not English.

Then, after graduating, you can apply for a residence permit for jobseekers, letting you stay in the country for up to 18 months while seeking skilled employment. It’s a great chance to launch your career and find your footing as soon as your studies finish!

Affordability

Spend Less on Your Studies

One of the best benefits of studying in Germany is that you can get a premium study abroad experience while spending comparatively less on tuition and cost of living.

Although an education abroad can still require a substantial investment no matter where it is, Germany is quite affordable, especially compared to other major study destinations (like the US or UK) and other European countries (like France, Norway, or Denmark). Food and accommodations won’t cost you as much as in many other places!

Community

Join a Safe and Welcoming Community

In addition to the positive student experience, many immigrants build happy new lives for themselves in Germany. With its diverse and welcoming population, Germany is a safe and beloved home for global citizens from all different walks of life. In fact, it’s one of the world’s most popular immigration destinations, attracting over 1 million people every year!

All across Germany, no matter where you end up, you’ll find kind, welcoming communities full of passionate, hardworking people. Not to mention Germany’s location in the very heart of Europe, giving you easy access to travel and explore all of the incredible culture and experience the entire continent has to offer.

Student Visa

Getting a German Student Visa

After getting a letter of admission from a German higher education institution, you’ll need to apply for an appropriate student visa: either a Student Visa (the standard), a Student Applicant Visa (needed in some cases, if your institution requires an in-person entrance exam), or a Language Course Visa (for students taking an intensive German language course).

After being granted a visa, as soon as you arrive in Germany, you must also apply for a long-term residence permit in the city you’re studying in.

Average Visa Cost: €80.00
