Game Night
Game night at the office was a huge success, complete with tasty treats from Crazy Canuck (and a few beers for good measure). ApplyBoard team members and their plus ones brought on the games and good times for an evening full of Jenga and trivia. We had so much fun at game night that we brought games into the office full-time! Games like Exploding Kittens and Telestrations are now available in the lunchroom for teams to enjoy on the daily.Formal Fridays
Formal Fridays have become a recent tradition at ApplyBoard’s Canadian HQ! Like many tech companies, ApplyBoard staff are encouraged to “dress for their days”, and many of us lean on the casual side. Formal Fridays give participants the opportunity to dress their best and show us what they’ve got.
Monthly Vision Meeting and a Visit From Jo Johnson
Every month, our team gathers for a vision meeting to align on company objectives and share each team’s projects. Currently held in Kitchener at the Apollo Cinema and led by our esteemed CEO, Martin, these meetings give staff the chance to shout out appreciation for fellow team members. And did we mention the coffee and baked goods?
In February, our vision meeting was joined by the Right Honourable Jo Johnson, former UK Minister of State for Universities, Science & Innovation. Mr. Johnson has joined ApplyBoard as Chairman of our Advisory Board, bringing with him years of experience in the education sector.
Valentine’s Day
Our ApplyFun committee went ALL OUT for Valentine’s Day this year. Teams were encouraged to dress in their pink and red best, which was all captured in our holiday photo booth.
To add more fun to the festivities, the committee planned a scavenger hunt that had competitors searching the office and online for their chance to win a prize.
Random Acts of Kindness
February 17th was National Random Acts of Kindness Day, and ApplyBoard got in the spirit. Our ApplyCare committee built a wall of colorful boards representing each team, and staff were encouraged to write kudos and shout outs across the organization. These posters are now hanging in each department’s space to spread the love all year round.
Birthday Celebration
With over 300 staff in our offices, we have a lot of birthdays! So we decided to throw a giant celebration for all of this month’s birthday celebrants, complete with both chocolate and vanilla cakes for everyone to enjoy.
Trivia Night
Last but not least, the ApplyFun committee coordinated a company trivia night! Teams gathered in the lunchroom to face off in the ultimate trivia challenge, covering topics from science to international music. In the end, only one team walked away with the prize, but pizza and beer made everyone a winner.
