ApplyBoard is excited to share that we’ve ranked #5 on LinkedIn’s 2022 Top Startups List in Canada!
Top Startups is “an annual ranking of the emerging startups to work for—globally.” The list, “created by the LinkedIn News team, uses a combination of exclusive platform data and editorial expertise to identify new companies that are growing fast and recruiting top talent.” This is the fourth consecutive year that ApplyBoard has been included on the list. Earlier this year, ApplyBoard celebrated seven years of helping to Educate the World, so this recognition is especially poignant as it’s the last year that we’re eligible.

Helping 400,000+ Students Pursue Their Study Abroad Dreams
Helping international students fulfill their study abroad dreams is at the heart of everything we do at ApplyBoard. We are the world’s largest online platform for student recruitment. In collaboration with our dedicated partner schools and recruitment partners, we have helped more than 400,000 students fulfill their dreams of studying abroad and secure more than C$60 million dollars in scholarships.
ApplyBoardians are as diverse as the students we serve. We are 52% female, speak more than 75 languages, and come from more than 30 countries. Here are just a few of the incredible things our team members have accomplished together since the unveiling of last year’s list:
- Acquired Panda Portal, rebranded as Trainhub
- Teamed up with the Royal Bank of Canada (RBC) to offer the International Student GIC Program
- Improved students’ chances of study abroad success with the Canadian Visa Calculator
- Launched our latest study abroad destination, Ireland
- United recruiters, school representatives, and industry leaders at Top Recruiters Workshop 2022
- Celebrated the grand opening of our Gurugram office
The Methodology
LinkedIn defines a startup “as a company that is independent and privately held, has 50 or more employees, is seven years old or younger, and is headquartered in the country on whose list they appear.” Staffing firms, think tanks, non-profits, accelerators, philanthropy and venture capital firms, and government-owned entities are not eligible for inclusion in LinkedIn’s Top Startups lists.
There were no changes to this year’s methodology. To rank startups across each region, LinkedIn measures the behaviour of more than 774 million users in four areas:
- Employment growth
- Engagement with the company and its current employees
- Job interest
- The attraction of top talent
