Why Assiniboine Community College
- Campus life: The Students’ Association council works hard to ensure that they voice relevant student perspectives, provide representation on college committees and engage with student projects. The Students’ Association council strives to deliver quality services that address the specific needs of students and to host events and programming that create a social atmosphere and offer stress relief
- Learn by doing: This isn’t just their motto; it’s their educational philosophy. Assiniboine Community College provides exceptional learning experiences and many times that means taking students outside of a traditional classroom. Whether they're growing plants in the sustainable greenhouse or creating a meal in the teaching kitchen, they'll make sure students get the hands-on experience they need so they're fully prepared for their future.
- Partnerships: Assiniboine Community College is proud to partner with professional organizations and other post-secondary institutions to ensure student's education takes them further. A popular option is the 2+2 program, allowing students to combine two years at Assiniboine with two years at a partner university, earning them a diploma and a degree in just four years. And increasingly, they’re seeing more students attending the college for hands-on college training to complement their previous university education.
- Facilities: Students across many programs benefit from the 3,300 square foot greenhouse which brings together three different solar-powered, energy-efficient grow solutions alongside a 3.2 acre grow plot and teaching orchard. The Len Evans Centre for Trades and Technology (LECTT) offers 130,000 square feet of shops, labs, classrooms and offices. The building provides a modern, integrated, open concept environment for more than 800 students every year from eight different construction and mechanical trades programs. The Victoria Avenue East campus in Brandon features large classrooms and well-equipped labs, along with their largest library, a campus bookstore, gymnasium, early learning centre, lecture theatre, television studio, full-service cafeteria, lounge areas, fitness centre and games room. It’s also home to the college radio station, CJ-106 FM. There are hundreds of computers available to students after classes, with 46 stations available during campus hours. The cultural centre provides a welcoming environment for all students and hosts many regular events throughout the year, including Elder visits, guest speakers, Bannock Wednesdays, movie nights and craft sessions. State-of-the-art labs, like the CISCO networking lab or HOLO simulation lab, will provide students with modern, interactive equipment and space to practice and hone their skill set to perfection.
