About Coast Mountain College - Terrace
Coast Mountain College, previously known as Northwest Community College (NWCC), is an accredited post-secondary institution that serves the rich and diverse communities and learners of BC's beautiful northwest region. Established in 1975 in Terrace, BC, Coast Mountain College has five regional campuses serving 34 communities, 21 of which are First Nations communities. The College provides students with innovative programs that leas to sustainable careers for people the in the north. Their campuses are located Hazelton, Haida Gwaii, Smithers, Prince Rupert, and Terrace.
CMTN offers college access programs; small class sizes; health and human service programs; online programs; university credit programs, trades foundation and apprenticeship programs. Coast Mountain College aims to be the college of choice for experiential, place-based learning allowing students to learn both in the classroom and in the spectacular outdoor spaces that are so unique to that part of Canada.
CMTN offer high quality and affordable education in one of the most beautiful places on earth. Their campuses provide a safe learning environment, where they educate students from all over the world.
Terrace campus is thirty acres of beautifully landscaped grounds nestled in the surrounding mountain ranges and approximately five kilometers from downtown. With a multitude of walking and biking trails and public transit nearby, downtown is easily accessible to students living on and off campus. Terrace campus has five, two floor traditional student buildings available for housing accommodation.

- Indigenous Resources: The Waap Galts'ap Community House features world-class art and carvings produced by instructors and graduates of the Freda Diesing School of Northwest Coast Art. The stunning longhouse is a historic first for a Canadian post-secondary institution. It is primarily used for student-centered and cultural activities and there are various events hosted there throughout the year.
- Facilities: With a recent renewal of their trades building students have modern facilities, increased study spaces and technological improvements to prepare for in-demand careers in the trades. Featuring a full service cafeteria with food prepared by students and professional chefs of CMNT's culinary programs as well as the Cedar Cafe which offers daily food and coffee specials and ample studying space.
- Location: Students can balance their studies with outdoor adventure at CMN campuses. Located in the coastal mountain ranges of Northwest British Columbia, they have some of the most amazing landscapes on the planet. Summer days are long, with and average temperature of +20 degrees Celsius and winters are mild with average temperatures of -5 degrees Celsius. Students experience rain, sun, and snow. The libraries lend bikes, snowshoes or fishing rods so students can go outside and explore.
