The College of Alameda, California’s only community college located on an island, is situated on a beautiful park-like campus in Alameda and offers the quiet of a suburban setting in a bustling urban environment. Alameda is situated at the heart of the San Francisco Bay Area, between Oakland and Berkeley to the northeast and San Francisco to the west. Alameda experiences warm, dry summers, and cool, wet winters. Alameda's Fourth of July parade is advertised as the second oldest and second-longest Fourth of July parade in the United States, and it features homemade floats, classic cars, motorized living room furniture, fire-breathing dragons, and marching bands. Alameda also offers various cultural attractions such as the Alameda Civic Ballet, the Alameda Museum, the Alameda Art Association, and the historic Art Deco Alameda Theatre. College of Alameda students also have easy access to both Oakland and San Francisco urban centres.
