About Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University - Daytona Beach Campus
The Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University of today is the product of a long and prestigious history.
In 1925, pilot John Paul Riddle met entrepreneur T. Higbee Embry, and together, they formed the Embry-Riddle Company to teach the adventurous to fly. This partnership was the beginning of a vision that has produced more than 140,000 alumni who drive innovation and keep the aerospace and related industries running safely and productively.
By 1951, the school was named Embry-Riddle International School of Aviation, and it was living up to the moniker, as its reputation was expanding globally as students from Europe, the Middle East, South and Central America, the Caribbean, and Asia returned to their respective countries to extol their Embry-Riddle education and launch their aviation careers.
The Embry-Riddle International School of Aviation was awarded accreditation in 1968, and university status was also granted. In 1970, the name changed to Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University – which is now recognized worldwide as the unrivaled pinnacle in aviation and aerospace education.
Today, Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University enrolls over 34,000 students annually and offers more than 100 associate, bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral degree programs.

The campus serves a diverse student body of approximately 6,700 undergrads and 800 graduate students from 50 states and nearly 100 countries.
