About Goucher College

Goucher College provides an innovative liberal arts education that prepares students with a broad, humane perspective for a life of inquiry, creativity, and critical and analytical thinking. Goucher College is a top-100 national liberal arts college known for offering a transformational education that delivers graduates who can solve complex problems within a diverse, global community.

Goucher College's principal objectives are to help each student master significant areas of knowledge and skills while developing an appreciation for individual and cultural diversity, a sense of social responsibility and a system of personal and professional ethics.

Goucher College believes these goals are best achieved in an environment that responds to students both as individuals and as members of multiple groups. Accordingly, education at Goucher College is based on an expanding sense of community--a community where discourse is valued and practiced, where students attend small classes and interact closely with faculty and one another, and where students can participate in and lead extracurricular programs.

Why Goucher College

  • Campus Life: It's easy to find niche as a student on campus with a diverse array of organizations a student can join. Goucher College has more than 60 student-run clubs, active religious communities, boundless leadership opportunities and a robust student wellness center. All are welcome to explore the three miles of trails in the woods on Goucher's campus. Students also can compete in 20 NCAA Division III sports, national equestrian events, intramural sports and esports.
  • Facilities: Goucher College is situated on 287 acres of land with a variety of facilities to help students live, learn, and become who they are meant to be. Some of the facilities include: First Year Village, which is a state-of-the-art living-learning community for first-year students, Mary Fisher Hall & Dining Center, Decker Sports & Recreation Center, Athenaeum & Library, Riding Arena, Stables, & Equestrian Fields, and more.
  • Culture: From playing an integral role in the women's suffrage movement to a successful Goucher Prison Education Partnership to the creation of the Center for Race, Equity and Identity, Goucher students are a testament to that commitment. The race, power, and perspective curriculum requirement is a four-year component that involves experiences and reflections. Community-Based Learning connects students to local organizations, fostering deep conversations about what it means to help others in the community while understanding systemic inequalities.
  • Location: Just down the street from Goucher, the suburban college town of Towson boasts a major mall, a live music venue, and dozens of restaurants, pubs, shops, and places to hang out. A few miles down the road, Baltimore City offers a wide range of cultural attractions, from world-class symphonies and museums to a lively local art and music scene—plus two major-league sports teams and all sorts of places to eat, drink, shop, see, and be seen.
