Program Description
This 3-term programme offers successful students guaranteed progression to London South Bank University. You will study your Foundation programme at the ONCampus LSBU Centre located at the heart of the London South Bank University campus.
This programme is designed to prepare international students, who have completed senior secondary education, for entry to undergraduate studies at London South Bank University. All students who successfully complete the Undergraduate Foundation Programme (UFP) are guaranteed placement on a suitable programme of undergraduate study at London South Bank University. The UFP is set at level 3, which is equivalent to A-level standard in the UK.
This pathway programme lasts one academic year (nine months). The year is divided into three terms of seven to eight teaching weeks and one examination week. On average, you will undertake 21 (and up to 25) hours of classroom-based study per week.
English Language forms up to six hours of your timetable, is compulsory for students who are below the required level for progression, and will be integrated into the teaching of academic subjects as well as being taught separately if you need additional support. Students who are at or above the required English level for progression are likely to follow a reduced timetable.
Progress to Bachelor of Arts (Honours) - Journalism
The course aims to produce confident and flexible graduates who are digitally literate with an innovative and self-reflexive approach to their journalism practice. In an industry environment, which is under constant transformation, the course equips you with the autonomy to identify and adapt to the changing technical and conceptual demands of journalism in the digital age. It is accredited by the Broadcast Journalism Training Council (BJTC) ensuring students are ready to join the industry straight from graduation.
At every stage of your degree, you will be mentored and supported by industry professionals and academic staff who are themselves active journalists or have extensive experience in journalism and media production.
JLDN , the students’ broadcasting station broadcasts your programmes live on YouTube. The radio station broadcasts your news, current affairs, music, lifestyle and variety programmes which you can listen online or on your mobile by downloading our app for Android or iOS. Facilities include multi-million pound Elephant Studios, including news rooms, sound booths and editing suites to become fully immersed in the field.
Attendance Method
At ONCAMPUS London South Bank University they are changing their plans, so students don't need to change theirs. At this UK centre they are making as many of our programmes as flexible as possible by offering either an online start or a face to face start. Students can come when they’re ready.
For the January 2021 intake there are four options available for students:
Option A - Centre based* term 1, 2 and 3
Option B - Online term 1, Centre based* term 2 and 3
Option C - Online term 1 and 2, Centre based* term 3
Option D - ONCAMPUS Online
*Centre based may be a combination of face to face and online learning, programme dependent and subject to change
