About Pacific Oaks College

Established in 1958, Pacific Oaks College is an accredited, nonprofit institution that has been a leader in the fields of education, social work, business management, and human development for more than 60 years. Offering both bachelor’s and master’s degree programs, the College's core values of respect, diversity, social justice, and inclusion are aligned with every aspect of its curriculum.

The school's mission is to help students become a culturally intelligent agent of change who can serve diverse communities in their field. To accomplish this goal, Pacific Oaks College is offering a Diversity Scholarship to all international students enrolled at the Pasadena campus.

Pacific Oaks College's approach to education allows students to share their perspective and experiences and learn just as much from their classmates as they will from textbooks. The College values the unique perspectives and knowledge students bring as an international student to the classroom. Simultaneously, an education in the United States will be shaped through the experiences of fellow classmates, many of whom are working professionals and can provide context to the subjects being studied in a program.

Why Pacific Oaks College

  • Campus: Located just 10 miles from downtown Los Angeles, Pasadena is a beautiful, vibrant city where students have access to everything they need to thrive academically and socially. The San Gabriel Valley includes the cities of San Marino, Alhambra, Monterey Park, Arcadia, and many others and provides an awe-inspiring backdrop to the College's culturally enriched campus where art galleries, world-class museums, and theaters are close by. With networking opportunities through established Pacific Oaks relationships, students will have the resources to garner experience in their field.
  • Location: Students will find themselves immersed in a thriving educational community that is home to such renowned institutions as Caltech and the Art Center College of Design. Old Pasadena—famous for its blocks of bustling boutiques, quaint cafes, bookshops, and fine dining—is just steps away, while a plethora of entertainment and recreational attractions are within easy reach. A short walk will take students to the famed Rose Bowl, while nature enthusiasts will enjoy opportunities to explore nearby canyons and the foothills of the San Gabriel Mountains.
  • Student Resources and Systems for Support: Pacific Oaks College provides a variety of learning support systems to help students excel academically, including experienced faculty members and student advisers who are available for guidance when students need support.
  • Education Based in Experience: A unique aspect of each of the College's degree programs is fieldwork requirements. For international students, this allows the benefit of observing the application of theory in American businesses, schools, and nonprofit organizations. Students gain experience in professional settings in local communities while using their knowledge and skills obtained in the classroom. Students also benefit from the exceptional networking opportunity that fieldwork requirements provide with local businesses and organizations.
  • Community Culture: Pacific Oaks College student life includes engagement activities that provide learning opportunities aligned to current local and world events, as well as moments of local cultural importance, such as the Anti-Bias Education Series, Globe Talks, and various information sessions and workshops. This provides all students with an opportunity to learn more about the daily life of American students and develop a deeper comprehension of the rich diversity in thinking, beliefs, and backgrounds of our community.
