Since 1966, Selkirk College has been providing innovative and unique learning opportunities through 60+ nationally recognized programs. Selkirk College International is committed to welcoming students from around the world and providing opportunities for all Selkirk College students to have an international experience as a part of their studies. At Selkirk College, Canadian and International Students study side-by-side in over 60 different programs.

Located on the west arm of Kootenay Lake, the Nelson campus combines a unique blend of urban sophistication and rural charm in a friendly atmosphere with an unhurried pace. The community is rich in artistic endeavours and boasts one of the highest per capita rates of artists and artisans in Canada. With over 350 heritage buildings dotted throughout the city, the downtown core is an inviting mix of historic and modern structures, reflective of the community’s respect for their past and contemporary progressive views. Add an incredible lineup of live music and fabulous restaurants and students get a big-city feel with the benefit of small-town accessibility.

Known globally for its unparalleled deep winter “pow,” the area offers some of the best alpine and Nordic skiing in the world, plus amazing snowboarding, snowmobiling and snowshoeing. Nelson has enough recreation, culture, dining and nightlife activities to keep you going strong all year. Baker Street, the epicentre of Nelson’s culture and economy is a testament to the city’s “shop local” mentality, with unique and diverse shops and restaurants owned and operated by locals. Students will love this city for it's supportive artistic community, diverse cultural scene, heritage and historic buildings, year-round recreation, golf, hiking & biking trails and mountain climbing.

Why Selkirk College

  • Location: Selkirk College is located in the Kootenays, a spectacular region of rivers, lakes, waterfalls, beaches, mineral hot springs, alpine meadows and snow-capped mountains that are home to four of British Columbia's seven national parks.
  • Campus: Selkirk College is large enough to provide quality student services and facilities, yet small enough to offer individual support, small class sizes and an extra dose of attention not found in most post-secondary institutions. Instructors are more than teachers, they are experts in their fields who have relevant real-world experience to share with students.
  • Support: Through support from employer advisory committees, exciting co-op education options and an outstanding B.C. post-secondary transfer system, student access to achieving goals is limitless. Also, affordable tuition and student awards at  Selkirk College make post-secondary education accessible.
  • Extracurricular Activities: There are many different ways to get involved at the College, whether that be through student leadership or student clubs and student-led activities such as the Environment Club or Acro Yoga!
