The university is one of the oldest higher education providers in the United Kingdom having recently celebrated its 180th year of teaching, starting off as a teacher training college back in 1839. Originally based on one campus in Chester, the university now offers more than 200 single and combined honour’s programmes across a number of specialist sites in Chester, Shrewsbury and Warrington. Courses have an emphasis on practical learning to enhance prospects via industry placements or overseas opportunities, ranging from five-weeks to one-year.
Following more than 41,000 student reviews across 150 UK Universities, the University of Chester finished second in the best for international students' category at the 2020 WhatUni? Student Choice Awards. This national recognition, voted for by current international students, is testament to the university’s commitment to providing international students with the very best experience and support.
- Location: Located in the North West, Warrington has been welcoming visitors for over 2000 years. Cities Chester, Liverpool and Manchester can be easily accessed from nearby motorways and fast frequent rail links, putting it in an ideal position to enjoy the North West of England. In 2017 it claimed second place on Channel 4's UK's Best Place to Live, offering high quality of life and good prospects for the future. In 2022 University Chester's Warrington courses will be offered from new premises, co-designed with current students, right in the heart of Warrington town centre. The University has worked closely with current students and local businesses for their input on this exciting new development to ensure that the university creates high-quality specialist spaces that students will value and excel in. The central location will allow students and staff easy access to public transport, as well as a range of leisure and retail facilities offered in Warrington.
- Local Attractions: From visits to the Warrington Museum and Art Gallery, laps around the UK’s largest indoor karting circuit, or having fun at the indoor activity park Tru Ninja, there are a variety of attractions for students to enjoy in and around Warrington. Additionally, throughout the year Warrington hosts an impressive line-up of alternative festivals and events, giving students plenty of opportunities to make unforgettable memories with new friends.
