About University of Victoria (in partnership with Kaplan International)

The University of Victoria (UVic) is one of Canada’s leading research-intensive universities. As a public research university with a diverse student population of 22,000+ students, University of Victoria is a forward-thinking institution built on a culture dedicated to a healthy planet, authenticity, inclusion and success. The University is uniquely located in Victoria, the capital city of British Columbia, which sits at the southernmost point of Vancouver Island.

University of Victoria has partnered with Kaplan International for the provision of application counselling and admissions support to international students.

Why University of Victoria

  • Location: At UVic, students learn on a picturesque campus designed to look and feel just like a park. Spread across 200+ acres of greenery, campus facilities are mingled in among the island’s old-growth rainforest. Nature trails and colorful walkways link students from one area of campus to another, giving the University a vibrant “green” feel. Given its unique location and incredible geography, UVic students enjoy unparalleled opportunities in Marine Biology, Forest Ecology, Plant and Animal Science and Geosciences.
  • Multidisciplinary Education: Many undergraduate and graduate majors are available at UVic, spanning an array of subjects. A comprehensive university, UVic offers programs across the sciences, humanities, arts, health and business, including high-ranking programs in Mathematics, Computer Science, Engineering and Psychology, among others. All programs give students the option to get hands-on experience (such as co-op) as part of their degree. In fact, 94% of all UVic students graduate with some sort of experiential learning - at least one co-op or practicum.
  • Co-op participation: Cooperative education (or “co-op”) combines classroom-based education with practical work experience. A co-op provides academic credit for structured, paid jobs with an employer. Co-ops are full-time positions for 4 months, and there is the opportunity do multiple placements with different employers during a degree.
  • Accommodation: Living in residence at UVic will be an important and exciting part of students' university experience. More than just a place to live, UVic residences offer a supportive community where students can thrive.
  • Sports & Athletics Facilities: UVic students are above-average users of their athletic facilities when compared to students across Canada. To accommodate their needs, UVic offers a wide range of athletic and recreation facilities, also available to faculty, staff and the community. These include the new Centre for Athletics, Recreation and Special Abilities (CARSA) facility, McKinnon Gym and Pool, Outdoor artificial turfs and world-class field hockey pitch, as well as the Ian Stewart Ice rink.
