About Upper Grand District School Board (UGDSB) - Centennial Collegiate Vocational Institute

As the name “Centennial” indicates, the school was opened in 1967 with the motto “Success Through Hard Work”. Centennial CVI is the southernmost secondary school in the Upper Grand District School Board and offers a full program of academic, arts, athletics, business & technological studies programs. Its proximity to the University of Guelph contributes to the high standards and academic focus that the parent community expects.  Staff and students at Centennial not only strive for scholarship but also emphasize social responsibility, community involvement, and respect for other persons. Centennial CVI celebrated 50 years of excellence in May 2017 with a reunion, including decade displays & opening the time capsule.


The mission of Centennial Collegiate Vocational Institute is to equip each student with the knowledge, attitude, and skills required to pursue excellence by providing creative programs and innovative technology within a safe and inclusive community.


Centennial Collegiate Vocational Institute offers levels D and E of the ESL program.

  • Advanced Placement: Advanced Placement (AP) exams have been offered at Centennial CVI for over 20 years in a variety of disciplines including biology, chemistry, physics, calculus, art, history, economics, English literature, and French language. 
  • Facilities: Centennial CVI is a Platinum Eco School with excellent sports facilities, including a city pool located within the school, and a tennis and soccer dome within walking distance.
  • Extracurricular activities: Centennial offers a significant number of athletic and other activities.  Students are encouraged to get involved in them as this participation will do much to enrich students' educational experience.
