About Upper Grand District School Board (UGDSB) - Elementary Schools

The Upper Grand District School Board serves more than 35,000 students through 65 elementary schools and 11 secondary schools in the City of Guelph, County of Wellington and County of Dufferin. The UGDSB covers the ancestral and traditional territories of the Mississaugas of the Credit, the Six Nations of the Grand River, and the Saugeen Ojibway Nation Territories.

Upper Grand District School Board provides programs for students of all ages, from the youngest of learners in kindergarten to opportunities for adult learners in Continuing Education. The array of programs includes French Immersion, apprenticeship, and co-operative learning through Career Pathways, online courses through eLearning, First Nations, Métis and Inuit Education, and the world-class International Baccalaureate program at Guelph CVI.

The Student Support and Program Services Department believes that all students can succeed. Its goal is to provide students with the social, emotional, academic, and behavioural supports they need to be successful and to offer staff the tools and strategies for student achievement and engagement.

Why the Upper Grand District School Board Elementary Schools

  • Ontario curriculum: After Kindergarten, students advance through Grades 1 to 8, where they are taught according to a standard, province-wide curriculum, which includes: the arts, French as a second language (some offer French Immersion), health and physical education, language, mathematics, science and technology, as well as social studies in Grades 1 to 6, and history and geography in Grades 7 and 8.
  • First Nation, Métis and Inuit Education: The Upper Grand District School Board ensures the inclusion of First Nation, Métis and Inuit histories and perspectives in schools, the system and school communities. By recognizing and promoting awareness of these histories and contemporary realities, UGDSBl supports the holistic success of all students, in particular the First Nation, Métis and Inuit students.
