About Washington State University - Pullman

Since 1890, Washington State University has inspired the next generation of problem solvers. WSU faculty inspire discovery and spark creativity among civic-minded students. Proud alumni become leaders with a singular goal: making the world a better place.

At WSU, you’ll find friendly people, a true college town, and a spirited learning environment that prepares you for success in your career and beyond.

Why Washington State University

  • Location: Pullman has been recognized repeatedly on state and national levels for its safety, diversity, health, business climate, green transportation, schools, technology, and for being a great place to raise kids, as well as one of the best college towns in America for both students and permanent residents.
  • Student engagement and leadership: Students can get involved in student organizations, student government, sports, the arts, community service and more! WSU has over 350 different student organizations, provides countless opportunities for students to make a difference in the community and has numerous resources to help them be successful both in and out of the classroom.
  • Athletics: WSU is a member of the PAC-12 conference, with teams competing in 11 different sports: football, basketball, baseball, soccer, track and field, golf, volleyball, swimming, cross country, rowing, and tennis. WSU also has a large selection of intramural activities, sports clubs, and an award-winning recreation center.
  • Campus housing: Studies show that students at residential colleges—like WSU Pullman—achieve higher grades, complete more credit hours each semester, and enjoy more leadership opportunities than their peers at other institutions. The reason is simple: the proximity and support of roommates, faculty, and resident advisors. Freshman students under 20 years of age (and not married) will live on campus in a residence hall for their first year at WSU Pullman. It’s a requirement—and also a big advantage. Many students choose to live in residence halls for their entire stay at WSU.
