About Wilfrid Laurier University - Milton

For more than a century, Laurier has been known for academic excellence. However, the university has also been committed to the philosophy that students’ success is measured by more than just grades – it is based on the quality of the lives they lead and the lives they inspire. Laurier has two campuses in Waterloo and Brantford, as well as a Faculty of Social Work in nearby Kitchener and a weekend MBA program in Toronto. In total, Laurier has 19,000 undergraduate and graduate students. Kitchener-Waterloo, with a population of about 350,000, is small enough to be safe and easy to navigate, yet large enough to offer great art, music, restaurants, and other big-city amenities.

With its size, Laurier is large enough to offer various clubs, programs, and career opportunities, yet small enough to maintain a tight-knit community feel. This fosters an outstanding student experience and ensures access to faculty and resources available on campus. The university’s small class sizes provide more opportunities for extra help, increased discussion, and student involvement. Regardless of where students study at Laurier, they are Golden Hawks, part of a supportive community that aims high, works hard, and takes advantage of amazing opportunities to make a difference.

Laurier’s Milton campus is tailored to local and commuter students to meet the needs of the significant number of students in Halton Region and the Greater Toronto Area looking to attend university close to home. The Laurier Milton campus experience begins as an engaging education hub in the Laurier Milton Academic Centre, which will evolve over the years into a robust, purpose-built campus in the Milton Education Village.

Why Wilfrid Laurier University?

Wilfrid Laurier University is dedicated to excellence in learning, research, scholarship, and creativity. It challenges individuals to become engaged and aware citizens in an increasingly complex world. Laurier fulfills its mission by advancing knowledge, supporting high-quality undergraduate, graduate, and professional education, and emphasizing the co-curricular development of the whole student.

The university is committed to justice and sustainability, both now and in the future. It strives to ignite the minds, spirits, and hearts of its communities through excellence in teaching and learning, the discovery and application of new ideas, and instilling the courage to engage with and challenge the complexities of the world.

In-class learning is only part of the educational experience. Laurier emphasizes putting knowledge to work in the real world, with integrated and engaged learning opportunities such as co-op work terms and community service. These experiences help students connect what they learn in the classroom to real-world experiences, which they bring back to the classroom. This creates a foundation of service that students continue long after graduation.

Laurier’s innovative programs in arts and social sciences, business and economics, music, science, social work, and education cover a broad spectrum. At their core, they reflect a common purpose: Laurier’s determination to address global social, health, and environmental challenges while advancing creative pursuits.
