Learners will have the opportunity to collect and analyse data through fieldwork using the Pagani TG63-150 Cone Penetration Testing apparatus—an advanced piece of equipment unique to Abertay in Scotland, providing a distinctive experience in ground investigation techniques.

Each student will complete an individual research project supervised by experts in their chosen area of specialisation.

All students are initially registered on the MSc Geotechnical Engineering, which includes a research project. However, they will have the opportunity to apply for an industrial placement as an alternative to the research project. Placements are subject to availability and awarded on a competitive basis following an application and interview process with the placement provider. Successful applicants will be transferred to the MSc Geotechnical Engineering with Industrial Practice.
