About Associate of Arts - Acting
Students get to study fundamental acting technique and start to build their reel on camera, release their imagination through improvisation, stretch their physical and vocal horizons in Movement and Voice & Speech classes, and develop insights into the larger story through script analysis in the Academy of Art University’s AA Acting program. The curriculum is designed to prepare students for a seamless transition into the BFA Acting program.
Undergraduate students will meet the following student performance criteria:
Acting
- Demonstrate the ability to play an objective and listen/respond effectively in on-camera work, at an intermediate level
- Analyze plays and screenplays to identify key elements necessary to build a performance, at an intermediate level
Movement
- Demonstrate understanding and basic command of movement choices used to to build a character
Vocal Production
- Project appropriately for on-camera acting
Professional Readiness
- Demonstrate intermediate-level understanding of audition requirements for seeking professional work as an actor
