About University Certificate - Applied Science
Program Description
The two-year Certificate of Applied Science (CAS) awarded by Acadia consists of 23 courses that are completed prior to admission at Dalhousie for the completion of the B.Eng. degree.
The first year of study in the Bachelor of Applied Science (BASc) and CAS program is common for all disciplines at Acadia. Students in the CAS
program only are expected to select one of the following engineering disciplines as they enter their
second year of study: Chemical, Civil, Electrical & Computer, Environmental, Industrial, Mechanical,
and Mineral Resources engineering. Students pursuing the combined BASc/CAS program may delay
discipline choice until after the second year of study.
The CAS can also be completed as part of a four-year Bachelor of Science (BSc) degree at Acadia with
various major areas of study including biology, chemistry, computer science, earth & environmental
science, mathematics, nutrition, physics and psychology. Students interested in this option are urged
to contact both the School of Engineering and the science department involved to arrange an
appropriate program of studies.
