The University Foundation Pathway is Stage 1 of the undergraduate pathway. The transition from high school to university is a big step, perhaps the most important. Staff at ARU College understand this, and will provide students with ongoing guidance, support, and the knowledge and skills they need. It is this partnership between the students and the staff that will make this transition a smooth one.
This is a 2 trimester course, which means that an undergraduate degree will take 4 years to complete. During Stage 1 students will complete a range of modules relevant to their chosen degree, as well as modules concentrating on the skills that are vital for University level education such as Critical Thinking. Stage 1 will be the first stage in the 4 stage process. Meaning that on successful completion of stage 1 students will seamlessly progress to stage 2, which is the first year of a bachelor’s degree.
ARUC's Pathway of Art and Design targets the skills students will need in university to critically assess information, develop their design portfolio, and express themselves through visual language. They'll be introduced to practical art and design skills including developing skills of visual storytelling, image-making both in traditional and digital media, visual language and communication, formulating an independent creative response to a broad range of subject matter. For a hands-on degree, many of the classes are going to utilize project and portfolio based strategies to help learners' begin developing their portfolio and find their areas of passion.
The staff are actively engaged in their own creative pursuits, and they’ll support students all the way. Plus, there’s the opportunity to go to extracurricular seminars and workshops, which feature guest presentations from specialist academics and researchers.
ARU's BA (Hons) Fashion Design degree will help students forge an identity as a designer, specializing in menswear or womenswear. Students will be hands-on from day one, creating their own fashion designs and engaging with all aspects of the design process in University's studios, including pattern cutting, draping, textiles and digital media.
