About 2-Semester Pathway - Foundation Pathway in Engineering, Computing and Technology - Continue to Bachelor of Science (Honours) - Computer Gaming Technology
The University Foundation Pathway is Stage 1 of the undergraduate pathway. The transition from high school to university is a big step, perhaps the most important. Staff at ARU College understand this, and will provide students with ongoing guidance, support, and the knowledge and skills they need. It is this partnership between the students and the staff that will make this transition a smooth one.
This is a 2 trimester course, which means that an undergraduate degree will take 4 years to complete. During Stage 1 students will complete a range of modules relevant to their chosen degree, as well as modules concentrating on the skills that are vital for University level education such as Critical Thinking. Stage 1 will be the first stage in the 4 stage process. Meaning that on successful completion of stage 1 students will seamlessly progress to stage 2, which is the first year of a bachelor’s degree.
Students taking a foundation pathway in Engineering, Computing, and Technology will find it necessary to work confidently in multi-disciplinary teams throughout their careers. This foundation program is structured around projects working with others from different degree programme, enabling them to begin to develop this extremely important transferable skill. Students can develop the knowledge and skills they need to create technologies and applications that will change the world.
During their foundation, learners will have opportunities for practical work and experimentation across a range of elements, including engineering design tasks centered on developing simple robots, in order to introduce the challenges and benefits of realizing theoretical ideas. There will be lectures and seminars combined with work-based learning and plenty of course options to personalize their studies.
With the BSc (Hons) Computer Games Technology course, students will be able to turn their love of computer games into a career. Working at ARU's development studio in Cambridge – close to the tech hub of ‘Silicon Fen’ – students will be located right at the heart of the computer gaming industry in the UK. From the very beginning of their studies, they’ll create and develop their own games. Everything learners design will build into a valuable portfolio to help them secure their dream job in the gaming industry when they graduate.
