About Extended Accelerator - Bachelor of Engineering - Civil Engineering
The first two years of the Bachelor of Civil Engineering degree program focus on basic principles, which are then applied in the third and fourth years in required and elective civil engineering coursework. Engineering science and design are integrated throughout, with a gradual shift in emphasis from introduction of fundamental concepts, principles, and tools to analysis and design in increasingly realistic situations. The curriculum culminates in the capstone senior design experience. Bachelor of Civil Engineering graduates are prepared for a variety of entry-level civil engineering positions or graduate/professional schools.
Civil engineering is a broad field of study. All students that pursue the Bachelor of Civil Engineering degree are required to take introductory courses in surveying, construction engineering, geotechnical engineering, environmental engineering, hydraulics, structural analysis, transportation engineering, and civil engineering materials. Beyond these courses, students satisfy curriculum requirements by selecting elective courses to broaden their civil engineering knowledge while strengthening their understanding in specific areas.
