About Master's Accelerator - Track 2 - Master of Science - Materials Engineering

The Master’s Accelerator Program is a two-semester program exclusively offered to aspirational international students. Master’s Accelerator students benefit from comprehensive support and language for discipline-specific purposes. The curriculum will include advanced writing, public speaking, and research instruction. Each course is designed to help ensure success at Auburn. The small class sizes, hands-on and interactive programs, and unique curriculum are designed to help students progress seamlessly into their master’s degree program. Master’s Accelerator students will be enrolled as full-time students during both semesters of the Master’s Accelerator Program and will earn 9 credits toward their selected degree.

Materials engineers address the science and technology of producing materials that have properties and shapes suitable for practical use. These materials include metals, ceramics, plastics, semiconductors, and composites. Materials engineers combine engineering problem solving with scientific curiosity to understand how and why materials behave the way they do. Their knowledge of materials science has allowed many innovative technological advances to spring from the drawing board to the production line.

The Master of Science curriculum is offered to those who seek advanced knowledge in materials science or engineering for a career in research or other professional practice. The core program consists of 30 credit hours that expose students to materials topics such as mechanical properties, materials structure, materials thermodynamics, kinetics, and electrical, optical and magnetic properties of materials.
