Bachelor of Science - Philosophy and Religion - Ethics, Law and Political Theory

About Bachelor of Science - Philosophy and Religion - Ethics, Law and Political Theory
This Philosophy and Religion concentration focuses on the nature of value, obligation, and justification in ethical and political decision-making. This track includes the study of classic and contemporary theories, concepts, principles, and their application to practical issues and pressing cases. The program is rigorous and stresses the importance of analytical and critical thinking skills, with a focus on how to think rather than what to think.
This concentration provides an excellent background for students interested in attending law school or going into government or public service work. The program has an excellent track record for graduates seeking admission to law school, graduate school, and career placement. The philosophy and religious studies classes involve extensive discussion and debate, and are, by design, generally small enough to ensure that students receive individualized attention. Outside the classroom, Austin Peay’s Philosophy Club is very active, meeting regularly to discuss issues, hold forums and debates, and watch movies, among other activities, having fun while engaging with philosophical and ethical issues.
