About Bachelor of Science - Public Management

Public Management graduates have a wide variety of career opportunities in the government and not-for-profit sectors such as: city managers, personnel managers, civil service workers, non-profit administrators, American red cross executive directors, public works directors, and emergency management managers.

This program is designed to give graduates the managerial and technical skills needed for employment in management positions, specifically within the wide range of occupations in the public or quasi-public sector. Through this program, students can gain the practical work experience needed to succeed in a variety of leadership roles. Students will develop an understanding of the core competencies of public management – political and financial processes, personnel administration, policy development and analysis, urban planning, and organizational theory and behavior – as they apply to a diverse workforce and citizenry.

Public Management faculty have decades of real-world experience and education in the public management and emergency management fields. All full-time faculty members have completed terminal degrees in public administration and/or public management. All part-time instructors have a masters degree in public administration or public management.

Faculty led opportunities that include undergraduate research, community-based learning, private and public sector internships, and even study abroad opportunities provide students access to real world connections and experiences.
