Master of Music - Music - Collaborative Piano

The Master of Music in Collaborative Piano program at Austin Peay will prepare graduates for career entry in a wide array of settings. Through ensemble experiences, literature and repertoire courses, and supporting curriculum, students will gain the skills, knowledge, and experiences necessary for career entry. Students will also develop the inquiry, research, and ensemble skills necessary to be adaptive as the field of music continues to grow and change.

Collaborative Piano is a rich and flourishing career path for pianists in a variety of performance, coaching, and academic environments. There is hardly an area in the field of music that does not require a pianist in some fashion including such venues as dance rehearsals, opera coaching, church services, choral performances, chamber music, musical theatre productions, and ensemble performances. Students with an advanced degree in this field will have the opportunity to work for a host of musical endeavors.

Students who wish to develop their potential as collaborative pianists will benefit from the rich training and the myriad of performance opportunities offered at APSU.

The department is host to world-class performers including premier soloists, chamber musicians, Nashville's top recording studio session players, symphony musicians, leading opera singers, and world renowned clinicians. The ensemble directors have established a tradition of excellence in large and small ensembles. And all Music Department faculty are committed to serving the students as educators and mentors.
