About Integrated Masters - Master of Engineering (MEng) - Civil Engineering (Environmental Engineering) (Placement Year) (H223)
This programme is designed to support students' development as an effective learner, and also to equip them with the skills needed to function effectively in multidisciplinary engineering team environments.
From week one of this programme, students will be immersed in Brunel's unique interdisciplinary approach to learning. In Year 1 they will study alongside students from many other engineering disciplines, on a common Engineering programme. In Year 2 Brunel will develop students' core knowledge of civil engineering subjects, like: material science, structural analysis, hydraulics, surveying and more. In Year 3 they have options. they can choose to stay on the specialist “Environmental Engineering” pathway, swap to the other specialist pathway in “Flood and Coastal Engineering” or change to core Civil Engineering programme. Year 4 of the programme includes advanced level study in subjects related to their chosen pathway.
Between Year 2 and Year 3 of this programme, Brunel have included the option to undertake a placement year. The placement year is a great opportunity to prepare students for the world of work. If they decide to undertake a placement, they could find themselves working in an office, design projects, or working outdoors, on construction sites. Brunel highly recommend taking a placement as it can improve students' prospects of getting the job they most desire after graduating.
This degree is accredited by the Joint Board of Moderators (JBM), comprising the Institution of Civil Engineers, Institution of Structural Engineers, Institute of Highway Engineers, the Chartered Institution of Highways and Transportation and the Permanent Way Institution on behalf of the Engineering Council as fully meeting the educational base required for an Incorporated Engineer (IEng) and partially meeting educational base required for a Chartered Engineer (CEng).
