Bachelor of Arts - English - English Education

The English Majors here at Chico State offer students a wide selection of choices depending on what area of focus they wish to study. The Option in Education will give the students the chance to start preparing for their credential, taking classes that are necessary to apply. The Option in Literature lets the student focus on literature and authors. The Option in English Studies will give the student wide-based knowledge in the field of English taking classes from all of its sub-areas.

The Option in English Education offers pre-professional preparation for students that wish to teach elementary school and high school. This option also fulfills all requirements for the Single Subject Matter Preparation Program in English, which will lead to a California teaching credential. For those interested in teaching at a collegiate level, this major sets them up for graduate programs as well as the RISE program, which gives students the opportunity to earn Masters in Education whilst getting teaching experience.
