Bachelor of Arts (Honours) - Commercial Music

Learn the skills needed to enjoy a successful career in the music industry. The purpose-built creative arts building, Daphne Oram, provides the latest recording facilities, including professional-grade rehearsal, recording, and performance spaces.

The supportive tutors are highly skilled musicians with international experience and whose teaching is informed by their work as active performers, producers, and composers in the creative music industry. Studying Commercial Music gives them a firm grounding in the key knowledge and skills needed to work professionally in the music industry. This course provides opportunities to apply what they’ve learned in a wide range of creative practical briefs that mirror real-world music industry work.

Wherever students' passion in music lies, this course offers them plenty of opportunity to hone their skills and study areas of commercial music that are new to them. Popular music is at the heart, and students will develop strong skills in performance, instrumental technique, song writing and composition.

As students progress through the degree, they'll have opportunities to perform, record, produce and compose music in specialist facilities, and students will study creative, technological and work-related elements of the music industry. Students will also have regular one-to-one vocal and/or instrumental lessons.
