About Master of Arts - Arts, Health and Performance
The Master in Arts, Health and Performance offers an engaging course with a unique blend of academic study and practice.
The University know that people's lives are busy, so they have designed the course to be taught through a combination of intensive in person sessions, online interactive and self-directed teaching, as well as group and individual tutorials. This course will equip students with highly employable skills and advanced knowledge to critically understand and navigate related fields both as an individual and in their professional role(s).
This multi-disciplinary Masters course examines the potential of participatory arts, performance science and artistic practice to enhance health, wellbeing, education/training and performance. Theories, research and practice within disciplines of psychology, sociology, physiology and pedagogy will be related to participatory/inclusive and elite arts contexts. There is engagement with research and practice throughout the course and there is an opportunity to develop a research project that can take different forms such as practice/performance-based, lab-based and/or written.
Students benefit from expertise, talks and workshops from clinicians, practitioners and artists as the Sidney De Hann Centre for Arts and Health and Centre for Practice Research in the Arts are part of the University and campus. The Canterbury campus offers a studio theatre, performance studios, studio-lab, music studios, a concert hall, a sports centre with fully equipped gym, and green areas and gardens.
