Master of Research - Social Policy

This MRes taught programme will provide students with the advanced research skills for them to critically analyse, interrogate, and research, either contemporary societal problems and policy issues, or undertake education research.

The MRes is suited for graduates from across a range of subjects including Education, Social Policy, Housing, Health and Social Care, Politics, Sociology, and other Social Sciences disciplines. It is also suited for graduates from other disciplines who want to develop advanced social research skills, and those wishing to develop a career in education or social policy research.

During the MRes students will identify and undertake a substantial independent research project.

Throughout students will develop their ability as an advanced researcher, gaining hands on experience in both qualitative and quantitative approaches. Students will be supported to develop and apply their skills as a critical thinker and also gain experience of tailoring their dissemination from their research findings.

The MRes Education or MRes Social Policy will advance intellectual and practical research abilities and will help students to develop the skills and experiences that are in high demand in many fields of employment.
