About Master of Science - Sport, Ethics and Society
The socio-cultural study of sport has become ever more significant. Drawing upon two major areas of study within the socio-cultural study of sport, the Sport, Ethics and Society programme focuses upon the sociology and ethics (philosophy) of sport, distinguishing this from other socio-cultural related sport programmes. The course content is informed by current and innovative research and has been praised for its scope and flexibility in assessment that allows students to pursue and develop individual interests. In most cases, students' crafting of these ideas are applied to future career aspirations.
Modules are designed to focus on a range of issues, contexts and approaches to explorations of current issues in sport and physical culture. These include becoming/being disabled, human interface with technology, jock culture, sexuality in sport, female bodies in sport such as boxing, taking risks and cheating in sport.
