About Bachelor of Science (Honours) - Business Information Systems
The professionally accredited Business Information Systems degree is designed to develop knowledge and expertise in the analysis, development and application of socio-technical systems, with a deep understanding of the importance of information technology and computing in society. Organisations are now, more so than ever, reliant on information systems to support day-to-day operations, design solutions to business challenges, and to inform on better decision making. This degree will teach students how to analyse business needs and develop technological solutions to meet these demands.
Students will be exposed to industry relevant theories, cutting-edge technology and research and will gain a solid grounding in the theoretical foundations of information, technology and systems applied to modern business environments.
Learning will combine the latest research at Cardiff Met with professional input from both business and technology experts. Students will be working on the kind of real-world scenarios that they are likely to meet in the industry. To prepare them further for their future career, the course offers plenty of opportunities to learn by doing. Students will be able to engage in research centres and labs, undertake a placement year, or gain additional professional qualifications such as Tableau and Cisco certifications. Once they graduate, students will be ready to progress into a successful career as information technology consultants, business analysts, information systems specialists and more.
This degree has been accredited by BCS, The Chartered Institute for IT. Accreditation is a mark of assurance that the degree meets the standards set by BCS. An accredited degree entitles graduates to professional membership of BCS, which is an important part of the criteria for achieving Chartered IT Professional (CITP) status through the Institute. Some employers recruit preferentially from accredited degrees, and an accredited degree is likely to be recognised by other countries that are signatories to international accords.
