About Bachelor of Arts - Broadcast and Cinematic Arts

Program Description

The power and art of storytelling comes in many forms. Whether you aim to be on camera, on the mic or behind the scenes, at CMU, you’ll be part of one of the most comprehensive electronic media programs in the country. Students in the broadcast and cinematic arts program hit the ground running as freshman, getting hands-on experience with Central’s award-winning on-campus TV stations, Moore Hall Television and at our radio stations WMHW (Mountain 91.5 and 101.1 The Beat). Join the team at News Central 34, our student newscast; Moore Media Records, our student record label; or watch films with The Film Society. Develop your networking with media professionals through national organizations such as Alpha Epsilon Rho/National Broadcasting Society, the Radio Television Digital News Association and the Alliance for Women in Media.

CMU's BCA program is the only one of its kind with two student-run radio stations providing you with valuable experience in running a radio cluster. Students have won multiple state, regional and national awards, including 16 consecutive designations as College Television Station of the Year from the Michigan Association of Broadcasters. Student-staffed Moore Hall Television (MHTV) creates a variety of serial programs including Central View and Sports Central, as well as short movies.

You'll have access to advice, support and networking through our 16-member alumni advisory board, made up of successful professionals throughout the industry. BCA's Student Broadcasting Executive Council is comprised of the heads of each student organization and gives students an ongoing voice in school operations and direction.
