About Associate of Arts - Liberal Arts - Social and Behavioral Science
A liberal arts education is designed to help students develop a breadth of knowledge in the disciplines of humanities, the physical and social sciences, and mathematics. An Associate of Arts Degree in liberal arts provides students with strong critical thinking, communication, and problem-solving skills. In addition, this degree provides students with the lower-division coursework needed to transfer to and succeed in a four-year college or university.
These courses emphasize the perspective, concepts, theories, and methodologies of disciplines comprising study in the social and behavioral sciences. Students will study about themselves and others as members of a larger society. Topics and discussion to stimulate critical thinking about ways people have acted in response to their societies will allow students to evaluate how societies and social subgroups operate.
