About Associate of Science - Automotive Services - Automotive Collision Repair (Optional Co-op)

Automotive collision repair and refinish technicians perform structural and cosmetic repair of cars and trucks. If a vehicle has been in an accident, they fix the dents, scratches and other damage to return it to pre-accident condition. If the paint is faded or peeling, they refinish it.

They don’t just make cars look good. They also make sure they’re up to manufacturer safety standards.

At Contra Costa College, students will spend more than two-thirds of their time in an impressive on-campus automotive collision repair shop, working with many different vehicles and the latest tools, hands-on.

All of the professors are I-CAR and Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) certified, and the program follows I-CAR’s industry-standard curriculum. After  the two-year program is completed, students are eligible to take the I-CAR Steel and Aluminum Welding Qualification Tests. Students will also be eligible to take all ASE collision certification tests.

Students will get training in all six ASE collision repair areas. And, the Certificate of Achievement in Auto Collision Repair Technology even counts as one year of professional experience toward the ASE certification.

This program is designed for applicants who would like a broader education or to transfer to a four-year university with an associate degree,.

Contra Costa College has a stellar reputation among professionals, and many industry partnerships. That really helps the students start their careers running.

And, best of all, at Contra Costa College students are supported by great instructors and staff, fellow students who share goals and an involved group of industry advisers who make sure the program is top-notch. There is even a Career Center to help graduates find jobs, apply and prepare for interviews. Students are supported, all of the way.
