About Associate of Applied Science - Electric Lineworker

Students in the WCCC Electric Line worker program will learn to climb and work on wooden poles at industry working heights using full wood pole fall restraint systems. Students will have basic training in the operation of bucket and digger-derricks. Students will also learn to splice, repair and install underground systems using boring machines, backhoes and trenchers. Assessments are provided by representatives from the many divisions of the electric industry.

Students learn basic skills in electricity, line work installation, repair, cable splicing, and system testing, as well as transformer connections, underground electric installation and effective operation of digger derricks. Electric line workers install and repair cables or wires used in electrical power or distribution systems. They locate line trouble, climb poles, use hot line tools, and operate and maintain substations. This program prepares students to work for power line construction and utility companies.
