About 12 Weeks Pre-Sessional English + 3-Term Pathway - Incorporated Bachelor Year Zero in Engineering and Computing - Continue to Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) - Energy Engineering
Students can get the perfect start to their degree at De Montfort University with the International Year Zero (IYZ). Students will take an extra year of study at De Montfort University International College (DMUIC) in order to complete a degree at DMU. Students who take the IYZ will continue to the first year of study of their chosen International Incorporated Bachelor's degree programme at DMU.
This delivery of the IYZ programme includes a twelve week pre-sessional English course immediately preceding entry to the programme. Throughout the pre-sessional English and IYZ programme, students will be supported at DMUIC. Students will have individual subject tutors who will make sure that they are on track to achieve their study goals. Students will be given feedback both in person and in writing so that they always know how they are doing, and how to improve. Students will also be assessed through regular tests and exams.
Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) - Energy Engineering
Energy Engineering is a contemporary course that is strongly underpinned by traditional engineering modules that at the same time provides specialisation in the utilisation and efficient use of conventional and renewable energy sources for power generation and modern energy storage solutions, complemented with elements of energy economics.
The production and utilisation of energy has been a key global issue for many decades and until recently the main focus has been to produce energy using fossil fuels purely for the economic development of nations, with little emphasis on environmental impact. Recently the outlook towards energy usage has changed.
Governments and industries have realised that energy production and utilisation have to be balanced by being more environmentally conscious and energy efficient. Energy Engineering BEng (Hons) will address theoretical and practical aspects of energy production, storage and utilisation.
