About 12 Weeks Pre-Sessional English + 3-Term Pathway - Incorporated Bachelor Year Zero in Media - Continue to Bachelor of Arts (Honours) - Film Studies
Students can get the perfect start to their degree at De Montfort University with the International Year Zero (IYZ). Students will take an extra year of study at De Montfort University International College (DMUIC) in order to complete a degree at DMU. Students who take the IYZ will continue to the first year of study of their chosen International Incorporated Bachelor's degree programme at DMU.
This delivery of the IYZ programme includes a twelve week pre-sessional English course immediately preceding entry to the programme. Throughout the pre-sessional English and IYZ programme, students will be supported at DMUIC. Students will have individual subject tutors who will make sure that they are on track to achieve their study goals. Students will be given feedback both in person and in writing so that they always know how they are doing, and how to improve. Students will also be assessed through regular tests and exams.
Bachelor of Arts (Honours) - Film Studies
On this course students develop their skills as a professional film-maker, critic, event organiser, writer or industry analyst through the academic study of cinema, to prepare them for a career in the creative industries.
In an increasingly media-focused world, this course will develop students' existing passion for film and TV into a prospective career, helping them acquire a skillset required for many technical and creative roles.
From broadcast journalism to the arts and events, this course focuses on the study of film and its variety of uses, and challenges students to see far beyond just the viewing experience.
Students will be able to choose modules that combine practice and study, giving students a strong theoretical understanding, as well as versatile skills such as communication and critical analysis. Graduates go on to work in a variety of fields, including film and TV, but also finance, public relations, banking, and tourism.
