Program Description
Software Engineering provides students with the opportunity to combine their analytical skills with creativity and flair, and draw together established theories and modern design techniques to develop high quality software.
This course has been successfully providing students with a foundation in the major themes of technical computing for more than 25 years.

- Develop your practical skills in our specialist facilities: As well as having access to 100 computer workstations in the dedicated Computer Science laboratories, students also have access to a further 100 workstations, which are divided into five interconnected laboratories each with 20 high-specification PCs running Windows/Linux.

As a Software Engineering student you will benefit from learning informed by research expertise and industry practice. You will learn about software development, database design and web technologies, gaining an awareness of professional practice and social responsibility. Although prior knowledge of computing is not required, the course is designed to provide a challenge for students who have studied in this field previously.
The course aligns with the Computer Science BSc (Hons) for the first two years providing you with the flexibility to transfer between courses after the first year.
