Students can undertake research into the molecular basis of health and disease. They can research spans basic gene discovery and molecular analysis, through functional genomics and pre-clinical development to the testing of new therapeutics, underpinned by powerful and relevant experimental platforms.

Key areas of research include immunity, infectious diseases, developmental biology, exercise physiology and metabolism, musculoskeletal biology, hematology, cancer, metabolic disease, structural biology and nanomedicine.

A Masters by Research degree is awarded for a substantial, original contribution to knowledge achieved in up to two years of full-time study.
