About Associate in Applied Science - Cybersecurity, Systems and Networking
Network and Computer Systems Administrators are responsible for the day-to-day operation of an organization’s computer networks. They organize, install, and support an organization’s computer systems, including:
- Local area networks (LANs)
- Wide area networks (WANs)
- Network segments
- Intranets
- Data Communication Systems
- Microsoft Windows Desktop
- Microsoft Windows Server
- Linux Workstations
The Computer Systems and Network Technologies curriculum offers background in:
- Network technologies
- Desktop support
- Server administration
- Computer systems
- Network support
Students will apply theory hands-on in labs for assembling, testing, and troubleshooting computer systems. GCC's technical electives will help students expand their knowledge of software and development tools.
Upon successful completion of the Computer Systems and Network Technologies AAS degree program, the graduate will be able to:
- Apply critical thinking and problem solving skills required by employers to implement and solve computer systems and networking issues.
- Demonstrate the knowledge and ability to install, configure and troubleshoot computer systems and networking components.
- Demonstrate adequate preparation for career employment and/or pursuit of a baccalaureate degree program.
- Demonstrate knowledge of basic theories, techniques and terminology used in the computer systems and networking environment.
- Compare and contrast different technologies used to meet users’ requirements, create networks and interconnect networks.
- Utilize and apply the technical, ethical and interpersonal skills needed to function in a cooperative environment.
