About Associate in Arts - Humanities and Social Science - Economics
The Humanities and Social Science Program lays the groundwork for future study leading to careers in law, sociology, psychology, public service, history, and Spanish, among others. In this program students will be able to explore multiple fields in the humanities and social and behavioral sciences, allowing them to have a well-rounded knowledge of the world people live in.
With an associate degree from GCC’s Humanities and Social Science program, students will be prepared to effectively complete a baccalaureate degree at a four-year college or university in:
- History
- English
- Psychology
- Sociology
- Spanish
- Political science
Students who successfully complete the program will:
- Demonstrate quantitative reasoning skills in mathematics.
- Utilize scientific methods to explore social and natural phenomena.
- Develop sufficient background in a Humanities or Social Sciences discipline to qualify for upper division study.
- Demonstrate the skills and knowledge needed to think critically and employ creative problem‐solving.
- Employ effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Demonstrate the knowledge and skills required to be an informed citizen in the global community.
- Demonstrate the verbal and written skills required to communicate in a foreign language.
- Analyze artistic and literary expression.
