Program Description
This two year course builds on the knowledge and skills needed for working with children and young people from birth to age 19. This is a competency based qualification requiring students to achieve 700 hours in a work placement.
Areas of study include:
- Principles and values
- Safeguarding
- Health and wellbeing, learning and development
- Professional practice
- Ilness and infection
- Speech, language and communications skills
- Positive behaviour.
Learners will also complete the Level 2 Children’s Care, Play, Learning and Development: Core Qualification alongside this qualification. Learners who wish to progress to higher education will complete the Level 3 Welsh Baccalaureate, thereby completing the equivalent of three A Levels.
