About Bachelor of Science - Criminal Justice - Psychology

The concentration in psychology educates students in criminal justice on the interface between criminal justice and psychology. The scope and sequence of seven psychology courses, in addition to the core criminal justice curriculum, provide students with a foundation in the interdisciplinary science of psychology, including the biological and psychosocial bases of behavior, learning, personality, and cognition. Students will also gain competency in research methods in the social sciences. 

The programmatic outcomes for the B.S. Criminal Justice-Psychology are:

  • Students will demonstrate an understanding of the following concepts: Theories of Criminal Behavior; The Law; Law Enforcement; Corrections; The Court System; Critical Thinking; Research Methodology and Statistics.
  • Graduating CJ majors will demonstrate excellent or outstanding understanding of the key concepts of Criminal Justice, Administration of Justice, Law Enforcement, Law Adjudication, Corrections, Criminological Theory, Research and Analytical Methods.
  • Students will apply ethical decision making skills and integrity in an ever-changing, global environment
  • Students will produce and present effective oral and written forms of communication appropriate to the profession
  • Students will analyze diversity issues in the criminal justice field
  • Students will evaluate the legal and social impacts of criminal law in today's changing society
  • Students will apply critical problem solving and professional skills in an experiential learning environment
