About 1-Term Pathway - International Incorporated Master's (IIM) - Continue to Master of Science - Information Technology and International Business
The Pre-Masters program is designed for students who do not qualify for direct entry to a postgraduate degree at the University of Dundee. This may be due to the grades achieved in their undergraduate degree, their current qualifications not being equivalent to a UK undergraduate degree, or a desire to improve their academic and English language skills.
The Pre-Masters course will equip students with the advanced skills necessary to complete their postgraduate study at the University of Dundee. They can choose to study over one or two terms, depending on their academic qualifications and English language level. The one-term option offers a fast track route to their chosen degree course and is studied over three months. The two-term option is studied over six months and provides additional academic English and subject-related support.
Information Technology and International Business
The degree is a multidisciplinary program that combines the study of IT and international business, preparing students for careers in the global business environment, where IT is increasingly vital.
The course is tailored for individuals who have graduated from non-computing subjects. For those who already hold a degree in Computer Science or a related field, the MSc in Advanced Computer Science with International Business may be a better fit.
The IT and International Business Master’s course is highly flexible, offering a practical mix of technical computing modules, such as:
Software engineering
Technology innovation management
In addition, students will study business modules, including:
International business strategy
Principles of marketing practice
This structure allows students to shape their studies to fit their chosen path.
Regular seminars and guest speakers provide students with insights from industry professionals, enhancing their understanding of real-life situations they may encounter in their careers.
Students will also have access to a range of conventional and specialized equipment and software, including:
Windows Azure
Teradata
Tableau
These resources will help further develop their skills and understanding.
Under the guidance of academic staff, students will undertake a major software development project. Recent project examples have included investigating augmented reality and its potential uses, as well as designing a computer-intelligible file format for CVs.
